In essence, Torat Eretz Yisrael is the “new light on Zion” which we prayer for each day, what HaRav Tzvi Yehuda Kook termed “HaTorah HaGoelet.” It is the Torah which is revealed in all of its encompassing fullness at the time of our Redemption. This monumental anthology traces the development of Torat Eretz Yisrael from the writings of Rabbi Yehuda HaLevi and the Gaon of Vilna through their elucidations in the teachings of HaRav Avraham Yitzhak HaKohen Kook and his son, HaRav Tzvi Yehuda, incorporating the writings of the leading Rabbis of Religious Zionism in our time. While exploring the deepest understandings of Torah, essays in the anthology unabashedly face all of the questions surrounding Zionism and the establishment of Medinat Yisrael and provide the answers in reader-friendly translations of the original Hebrew texts or in essays written by Israel’s leading Torah educators in English, as the verse says, “For out of Zion shall go forth the Torah and the word of the L-rd from Jerusalem.”
Contributors to the Anthology include: Yehuda Halevi, Maharal of Prague, HaGaon of Vilna, Avraham Yitzhak HaKohen Kook, Yaakov Moshe Harlop, Tzvi Yehuda HaKohen Kook, Yisachar Shlomo Teichtel, Mordechai Atiya, Uzi Kalcheim, Moshe Tzvi Neriyah, Avraham Elkana Kahana Shapira, Mordechai Eliahu, Moshe Levinger, Chaim HaKohen “HaHalban,” Chaim Drukman, Abraham Livni, Tzvi Glatt, all of blessed memory.
